CHAMS: Call for Action

BCP Council's Environment & Place Committee are meeting at 6pm to discuss the future of the Environmental Protection Policy for Christchurch Harbour.

Christchurch Harbour and Marine Society (CHAMS) are calling for anyone who cares about Christchurch's waterways to attend a peaceful gathering beforehand at 5pm to show BCP Council just how many people care about our waterways and that action must be taken to protect them!

See the Call for Action for information about why this matters!

Attached is the referenced poster as an image and also a PDF (Portable Document Format).

July 15th is a massive day for Christchurch and of course for the future health of our Harbour.

Back in March 2025 the fantastic show of support shown by circa 130 people gathering outside the BCP Civic Centre had an impact. The Full Council voted UNANIMOUSLY for ‘An Environmental Protection Policy’ for Christchurch Harbour. The meeting on the 15th July deserves a far greater turnout!

Please pass the attached poster to anyone who you believe could be interested, ask them to create a placard and turn up in water-sports gear (not compulsory!).

We need to create an impact, gathering from 5pm, at the BCP Civic Centre, as the Committee gathers. Those not attending the meeting would be free to go at 6pm.

We will be producing professionally printed posters in A3 and A4 should you wish to place them in key places around the town.

Updates will be made on our website https://www.chams.info/

Thank you for your support.
