[EXPIRED] Christchurch Bypass Closure

The Christchurch Bypass will be closed to facilitate resurfacing works by BCP Council from Monday, October 27 until Sunday, November 16.

The road will be closed to all vehicles and parking will be prohibited.

The eastbound closure will consist of the Christchurch Bypass from its junction with Fountain Roundabout to its junction with Salisbury Road, as well as Stony Lane to the railway bridge.

The westbound closure will be from its junction with Somerford Roundabout to its junction with Fountain Roundabout.

The works will be completed in two phases, with the eastbound closure first, followed by the westbound closure.

A signed diversion route will be in place.

The council has said that access for emergency services will be maintained and access to properties will remain depending on site safety. However, it has warned that the arrangements may be amended or extended should the works overrun or if weather conditions delay operations.

The restrictions could be in effect under this order for up to 18 months and could be further extended with the approval of the Secretary of State, the council has said.
