Purewell Parking Bays

CTC Councillor (and CRA Committee Member) Avril Coulton met with Kevin Brolan MILT Senior Transport Officer at BCP together with Tim Lloyd - Chamber of Commerce, Richard Wade - More Bus, Paula Sales BCP, Nick Phillips - BCP and several others on 12 January to discuss the draft plans.

The parking survey agreed in May 2025 was done in September 2025 with cameras on lamp posts for one week. Although there are 31 parking bays available along the entire length of Purewell only a maximum of 20 were used.

BCP will progress with a “Have Your Say” engagement on the recommendations. This public engagement exercise will include clear plans of the proposals on the BCP website. It will also be promoted to local residents and businesses via door to door leafleting, with paper copies of the plans and feedback forms also available.

The engagement will also ask for views on whether the current timed parking restriction should be increased from 30 minutes to one hour, plus the potential for a 20mph zone/vehicle weight restriction for the road.

Following the “Have Your Say” engagement we will meet again to discuss the results. The Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) process would then follow which permits further consideration of feedback from residents and businesses.

Kevin will speak with the BCP Comms Team on this approach and when we hear more news we will let you know.
